Disposal of Leaves, Grass, Holiday Trees

Grass Clippings Drop Off

The Town of Cheshire is providing a container at 1304 Waterbury Road (adjacent to the Town Garage) for disposal of residential grass clippings and leaves. Please note that no other items will be accepted. Disposal by commercial operations is not permitted.

Residents must empty grass clippings and leaves out of the bag or container. Leaves may be in biodegradable bags. There is no charge.

The container will be accessible from 7:30 am to 8:30 am every Monday.

Leaf Collection

The Town’s Leaf Collection will begin on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Residents may bring leaves in biodegradable bags for disposal at the Public Works Garage, 1286 Waterbury Road on Monday mornings from 7:30-8:30 AM on 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1 and 12/8.

For Curbside Collection: leaves must be placed curbside in biodegradable bags before 7:00 AM Mondays for pick-up by the Public Works Department according to the following schedule.  

November 3 – November 7, 2025 – Entire Town. 

Week of November 10, 2025 All residences EAST side of Route 10   (Wallingford side)

 Tuesday 11/11 is Veterans Day observed and there will not be any collections.

Week of November 17, 2025 All residences WEST of Route 10   (Waterbury side)

Week of November 24, 2025 All residences EAST side of Route 10   (Wallingford side) 

Week of December 1, 2025 All residences WEST of Route 10   (Waterbury side)

Week of December 8, 2025  All streets

NOTE: Inclement weather or unexpected emergencies can delay leaf collection.

Holiday Tree Disposal

The Public Works Department will be accepting holiday trees at 1304 Waterbury Road (Route 70) in January 2025 (date TBD). Only holiday trees will be accepted and proof of residency may be requested. There is no charge.
