Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for the engineering, permitting, inspection, and scheduling maintenance of Town roads and sidewalks. The Director is the Town Tree Warden, with several Deputy Wardens. The Department also manages the contracted trash or recycling program and serves as a liaison between residents and the hauler.

The Highway Division performs construction and maintenance on Town roads, sidewalks, and rights-of-way. During winter months, the Highway Division clears snow from both Town roads and sidewalks around Town buildings and parks. Each spring, crews perform street sweeping operations.

The Grounds Division maintains the parks, playgrounds, and open spaces for recreational uses, including clearing a section of the Linear Trail for winter use.

The Public Properties division maintains and improves all Town-owned buildings except schools, which are maintained by Cheshire Public Schools.
