Recycling Containers

Green recycling containers are assigned to each residence. They should be placed curbside with the wheels away from the street. The lid must close.

A second container may be requested free of charge by emailing your name, address, and the serial number on your present recycling bin.

Trash Containers

Trash collection is automated. Gray trash containers are assigned to each residence. Containers should be placed curbside, with the wheels away from the street and the lid opening on the streetside. They should be at least three feet from any other container or obstruction. A second container can be purchased.

Collection Hours

Put containers curbside the night before collection day. Trash or recycling may be picked up as early as 5:30 am and pick-up times may vary weekly.

The given holidays always cause a one-day trash or recycling collection delay:

  • Memorial Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day

The given holidays cause one-day trash or recycle delay if they fall on a weekday:

  • New Year's Day (January 1st)
  • Independence Day (July 4th)
  • Christmas Day (December 25th)

Call Public Works at 203-271-6650 to report any problems or missed pick-ups.

Acceptable Items

Residents are reminded that the hauler picks up only normal household trash.

  • No hazardous materials
  • No leaves or grass clippings
  • No broken glass or other sharp objects unless they are securely wrapped and padded
  • No bulky items, furniture, construction debris, or carpeting
